Cajun Fiddle Workshop

Cajun Fiddle Workshop

with Charly Caugant – SATURDAY, AUGUST 9, 10:30 to 12:00 (@Coin Chill)

A self-taught violinist, I discovered Cajun music in the mid-1970s, notably through contact with Gérard Dôle and Roger Mason in the Parisian folk clubs of the time (Le Bourdon and La Vieille Herbe), then with Eric Martin and the members of the group Vermenton Plage, a group that I joined in 1984 and with which I devoted most of my musical activity for 30 years.

We've recorded five albums and performed at numerous venues and festivals in Europe and the United States. I've always wanted to share my knowledge of Cajun music, particularly through workshops and workshops during our tours.

In this workshop, I propose to address the different aspects of the role of the violin in Cajun music by explaining the technical characteristics (phrasing, bow strokes, double stops, chords) with the support of a few pieces representative of the different styles.

This workshop is open to all participants regardless of their level.
