Born from the will of a few musicians and from the privileged situation of the Baugeois, Herbe Bleue proposes to combine terroir and arts by organizing music concerts Old Time, Bluegrass & Cajun, some "OFF", in unusual places, scattered over the territory: farms, barns, fields, village squares to enjoy nature and the long summer days.
Our story is written every year
Have fun reviewing!
In 2023 Herbe Bleue had a flawless run, apart from a light rain on Friday which led to the now famous "Barnum dance". In addition to its varied line-up, the festival saw the arrival – live from the USA & UK – of "callers" leading wild dances; the arrival of luthiers and other craftsmen as well as the emergence of a 2nd springboard stage allowing emerging groups to rub shoulders with an even wider audience.
2022 : Herbe Bleue has surpassed itself by maintaining its program despite its last-minute relocation due to the fires ravaging our surroundings. It was necessary to move festival-goers, campers, musicians, technical teams, catering, accommodation as well as all their equipment in less than 48 hours: a feat achieved thanks to the invaluable help of everyone, praised by the Baugeois, the transhumant public and the artists who sometimes came from very far away – USA, UK, Belgium, Netherlands … – and, of course, our partners. Marking our support for the commitments of many firefighters and farmers, Herbe Bleue graciously opened its doors to them.
2021 : The project was widely acclaimed by festival-goers from all over France (covid obliges) as well as by musicians and aficionados. The great support of all reinforces the idea of bringing together in Anjou artists from all backgrounds and influences, local and traveling public and the many amateurs, both experienced and beginners, of these musical trends. That year, workshops were launched.
2020 : The current health regulations somewhat disrupted the planned organization, but the line-up was maintained and everyone asked for more! Despite the difficulties, the Herbe Bleue audience grew, and these events brought together musicians, organizations, the public, and volunteers.
2019 saw the first edition of this adventure, which presented the concept of a gathering of Bluegrass and Oldtime musicians in the great outdoors. Returning to their residency at La Cour du Liège, the Lille group Beardy Birds conquered the Baugeois neighbors and visitors from elsewhere: Herbe Bleue was born and quickly generated strong interest.
